Born in Dakar, Senegal, Nahum’s journey began far from the sterile confines of an operating room. Yet, a fascination with technology and its potential to improve lives set him on a course that would redefine surgical practices. He honed his skills at the National Institute of Applied Sciences in France, graduating with a Master’s degree in Robotics. This expertise propelled him into the burgeoning field of surgical robotics, where he saw an opportunity to revolutionize patient care.

Pioneering the Path From Zeus to ROSA

Nahum’s relentless pursuit of innovation led him to groundbreaking roles at companies like Computer Motion Inc. There, he played a pivotal part in the development of the Zeus and AESOP robotic systems, forever changing the landscape of laparoscopic surgery. His impact continued at Integrated Surgical Systems Inc., where his expertise helped create ROBODOC, an orthopaedic surgical robot.

A Legacy of Innovation ROSA

Nahum’s entrepreneurial spirit blossomed in 2002 with the founding of Medtech SA. This company gave birth to the ROSA® Surgical Robot, a revolutionary system designed to assist neurosurgeons and spine surgeons in complex procedures. Under Nahum’s leadership, Medtech thrived. The ROSA system became a global success, and in 2013, the company witnessed a triumphant IPO, further solidifying Nahum’s position as a leader in surgical robotics. The eventual acquisition of Medtech by Zimmer Biomet in 2016 marked a significant milestone, with the ROSA system continuing to empower surgeons worldwide.

Never one to rest on his laurels, Nahum embarked on a new venture in 2017: Quantum Surgical. This company, co-founded with a team of passionate individuals, aimed to tackle a formidable challenge – cancer treatment. Quantum Surgical’s brainchild, the Epione® platform, is a testament to Nahum’s unwavering commitment to patient well-being.
