A Legacy of Excellence at Bumrungrad International

Located in Bangkok, Bumrungrad International Hospital—established in 1980—has pioneered world-class healthcare in Asia. As the first hospital in the region to earn Joint Commission International (JCI) accreditation and the world’s inaugural adopter of IBM Watson for Oncology, it remains at the forefront of medical innovation. It is within this celebrated institution that Paorohitya Napas, Chief Marketing Officer, directs a patient-centric mission that continues to define Bumrungrad’s global reputation.

From Journalism to Healthcare Leadership

Early Career & Diverse Expertise

Graduating in 1986 with a degree in International Relations and Political Science, Paorohitya launched her career at Reuters as a political correspondent. Seeking creative challenges, she transitioned to advertising with J. Walter Thompson as a copywriter, eventually overseeing major clients such as Emirates and Puma as Creative Group Head.

Brand-Building Across Industries

Her journey included directing marketing and communications for The Body Shop International in Thailand—driven by inspiration from entrepreneur Anita Roddick—and managing corporate affairs for Coca-Cola, where she honed skills in crisis resolution and public relations. Paorohitya later helped introduce the UK telecom brand Orange to Thailand and served at HSBC, consistently committing five to six years to each role to build stable, sustainable results.

Embracing Healthcare: A Personal and Professional Calling

Her transition to healthcare at Bumrungrad represented both a professional milestone and a patriotic mission: to contribute meaningfully to Thailand’s advancement by leveraging her cross-industry experience.

Core Values Under Her Leadership

Patient-Centered Focus

Under Paorohitya’s direction, every decision prioritizes a single question: Does this improve the patient’s experience and outcome?

Compassionate Care & Innovative Technology

Bringing together world-class talent—American-board physicians, multilingual nurses, therapists, and pharmacists—and leading medical technology, the hospital delivers compassionate, safe, and effective care.

Technology, Specialization & Brand Trust

Focused Specialization

Bumrungrad emphasizes its strengths in critical and complex care—such as spine surgery, transplants, oncology, and cardiac procedures—pitching itself as a center of excellence with global talent.

Cutting-Edge, Patient-Centric Innovation

The hospital adopts tech to minimize pain, boost safety, and enhance quality—mirroring Volvo’s dedication to safety.

Consistent Compassionate Identity

Through consistent messaging and facility design, the organization underlines warmth and empathy, reinforcing brand trust.

A Holistic Wellness Destination

Looking ahead to 2025 and beyond, Paorohitya is leading Bumrungrad toward a holistic healthcare model—one that embraces wellness and prevention alongside clinical treatment.

  • Raksa Wellness Resort, opened this year in Bangkok’s suburbs, exemplifies this vision.
  • Prevention-focused clinics, initiated two decades ago, are expanding further.

Its message to the world: health isn’t just the absence of illness—it’s a form of wealth worth investing in.

Overcoming Challenges Through Agility

Navigating an Evolving Healthcare Landscape

Thailand’s hospital market is increasingly competitive and unpredictable. Paorohitya favors adaptability and swift pivots, especially during public health crises like COVID-19 or outbreaks of chickenpox and smallpox.

A notable initiative under her leadership was a powerful short film honoring Thai healthcare workers during the pandemic—garnering over 20 million views on YouTube and reinforcing the hospital’s emotional connection with its audience.

A Human Approach to Healthcare Marketing

Paorohitya Napas brings an empathetic, strategic, and people-first mindset to modern healthcare marketing. Through technology adoption, crisis agility, specialized excellence, and compassionate communication, she positions Bumrungrad as a global exemplar of patient-centered care and wellness leadership.
